Garuda is a legendary bird or bird-like creature found in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain mythology. He is the vehicle mount (vahana) of the Hindu god Vishnu, a dharma-protector and Astasena in Buddhism, and the Yaksha of the Jain Tirthankara Shantinatha.
