Vishnu is one of the principal deities of Hinduism, and the Supreme Being in its Vaishnavism tradition. Vishnu is the "preserver" in the Hindu trinity (Trimurti). A traditional depiction of Vishnu is of reclining on the coils of the serpent Shesha, & this pose is called the Ananthasayanam in the cosmic ocean. In this rare statue he is accompanied by his consort Lakshmi and Mahesh, as he "dreams the universe into reality". In a rare occurrence is also seen Brahma the Creator seated on a lotus that rises out of Lord Vishnu's navel completing the trimurti of Brahma Vishnu Mahesh.
