Amitabha (aka Amita, Amida, Amitayus, Emituo Fo) is Lord of the Lotus Family and the Sukhavati Pure Land which literally can mean happy land . He is probably the best known of the Enlightened manifestations in Mahayana aside from Shakyamuni Buddha himself. Amitabha is the primary Buddha in many Pure Land Buddhism schools, and is very important in Vajrayana and Tibetan Buddhism.
